A 300-litre tank with integral heat exchangers with a 18kWh capacity
Food halls have a constant hot water usage, but Cafés are subject to peaks during busy service periods. Hot water production using a heat recovery system is usually uniform; to accommodate peaks requires a greater storage capacity to be fitted. A DK heat recover system would be fitted up stream of the boiler to provide the unchanged heating system with pre heated water at 50°C. This means that either the existing boiler will have nothing to do or operate at a lighter load. Keeping the original boiler in place will reduce installation costs and provide a backup should the refrigeration system be switched off for any reason.
A 36kW system with a 300-litre storage tank would produce 360 litres of hot water at 50°C every hour to cope with the continuous water demand and 300 litres of water ready to cope with the peak demands
Assuming a 7-day operation with an average of 12 hours per day the system will save 63,000 kWh of heat energy when using electricity for heating (more if oil or gas is being used).
